Six ways you can use COVID-19 to grow your lash business

Attention lash artists! This is a public lash announcement: COVID-19 is not going to hang around forever. I promise you that. So, it’s time to use lockdown to your advantage.
Here are six ways to utilise your time wisely, so you have no regrets. Let’s get your lash wheels in motion.
Tip 1: Stay connected to clients
Just because you’re not seeing clients in the flesh doesn’t mean that your communication switches off. Keep in touch. Use text, WhatsApp, Viber, email, or Facetime. Go live on Facebook or Instagram. Tryout online conferencing via Zoom, Google Hangout or Skype. By the way, nothing beats a check-in text saying “Hello” to your client. Brighten their day. They’ll remember that.
Tip 2: Upskill and invest in you
Lots of companies are offering online training at heavily discounted prices. Google your interests. Consider brushing up on your business and communication skills—not just lash related training. What have you wanted to learn but haven’t had time for? Choose something that inspires you.
Tip 3: Keep up with your lash practice
Hone in on your skills. Sharpen your technique. If you sit around without practising your craft, your efficiency, precision and muscle memory may weaken. Our Runway Lash Co. practice lashes and mannequin heads adhere to social distancing guidelines and keep your lash practice up-to-speed.
Tip 4: Give your life a makeover
COVID-19 is the opportunity to declutter your home and salon. Organise areas in your home or business that have no structure. If you need inspiration, watch Marie Kondo on Netflix. Structure in your business and home life means more mental space for creative projects—like content planning!
Tip 5: Reconnect with your kids and partner
If you have kids, I bet you appreciate the school system 10x more since homeschooling became compulsory. It’s challenging, but how often do we get the chance to be 100% present with our kids—or partner? Use this time to be there with your child. Once this is over, you’ll be glad you did.
Schedule date nights. Turn up the romance. Google fun things to do indoors with your partner. While you may be in each other’s space more than usual, embrace it. This too shall pass.
Tip 6: Connect with Yourself
Most of us are running a household and a business. Whether you have a salon or are a solo lash artist, it’s time to take a mini-break during lockdown. Freaking out isn’t going to do anything aside from fuel further stress and fear. Flip your perspective and think of COVID-19 as an enforced holiday—for the world.
If you take a day or two to binge-watch Netflix, don’t beat yourself up. Enjoy that time because it’s likely you’ll wake up the next day itching to create online content.
